How to Pay Your Tenants Back-Rent with TRHAP Funds.

COVID-19 has destroyed many families’ ability to pay rent.

Consequently, many Connecticut investors will be behind in rent collection.

The economic loss and financial instability will continue for years to come.

Luckily, the Connecticut Housing and Finance Authority has reloaded funds into the THRAP program to assist tenants and landlords who have been affected financially due to COVID-19.

Here’s how to apply:

1. Go to chfa.org/trhap-landlord and submit your tenants’ contact information and address

2. CHFA will determine if the tenant is eligible for assistance based on income

3. Landlord submits W9, direct deposit information and signed contract.

4. Application is processed and funds transfered within 3-4 weeks.

Pros: Each tenant is eligible for up to $4000 in assistance.

Cons: Tenant cannot be evicted before 3/1/2020.
